New RAM memory (part 2)
Went this afternoon again to the MyCom shop to change the memory-card. I was given the wrong one… got the 184 pin dimm and should have gotten a 168 pin dimm memory card. After waiting for 15 minutes in the Centuurbaan, they chenged the one for the correct one. Back home, I immediately disconnected all cables and got the 64 MB out, and did put the 256 MB in, which was not easy. Connected again the cables and … nothing. Puter did start, but no screen, no keyboard, no mouse… no nothing. Wrong one again? I don’t know. Could not put the 64 and the 256 together in because there is not enough space to place them. I do have three benches for memory, but have to unscrew almost everything, disc-station, harddisc and 2 cd-drivers. Don’t want to get into that for this. Well, I supose I need some special memory for my Compaq puter. On the 64 MB card, there is a little sticker (I discoverd just now) which say Compaq made by Hyundai Korea. Checked again the flashy website from MyCom and discoverd there really are special Compaq memory dimms… aaarrggghhh. And they cost 3 times more… and only available in 128 MB….
You all know now which computer I will not buy next time….
