Obstgut Schönborn am Kellersee or Epona Farming is located on Sielbecker Landstraße in Eutin, Germany.
Apples have been grown on the Schönborn fruit estate since the end of the 19th century, including in combination with subcultures and berries as well as other types of fruit.
The orchard was a pomological center for research, exchange and development of new apple varieties. In this context, the Holsteiner Cox was discovered and bred for the first time on the Schönborn orchard in 1890. An apple that loves this location and has proven itself regionally to this day.
Due to its location, topography and microclimate zones, the orchard is predestined for the cultivation of exceptional fruits such as peaches, which were shipped individually wrapped in paper to St. Petersburg as early as the end of the 19th century. Since the 1990s, conventional fruit growing has been carried out on the estate, with a focus on the production of dessert apples.
Tradition and innovation have shaped the development and history. The Epona farming concept, unique in the region, is another milestone for the Schönborn fruit estate. The Schönborn fruit farm is located on the outskirts of Eutin in Ostholstein. It covers 90 hectares of property and consists of 75 hectares of agricultural land, 6 hectares of semi-natural mixed forest and biotopes and 9 hectares of farmland with buildings and farm roads.
There is a private hunt.
