After a nice day in San Jose we headed towards the pacific coast. Sky was clouded, so we couldnt go to the Valpaos Vulcano lake. Instead, after lunch near a crocodile spot, we arrived around two in Quepos. Excellent beach around here, so a visit to the beach was made immediately. Village itself is very lowprofile, which is nice, compare with the big city San Jose. Quepos lies in a area where there used to be banana plantages, but after strike by a virus thirty years ago, they are now in african paltrees business. The fruits are used for the oil for consumption and cosmetical use. City itself is a former fishvillage.
Today we went to the national park here, left at seven from the hotel to walk three houres with guides throught the park. we spotted several kinds of animals, sloughs (luiaards), lizards, and several monkeys. Again the beach was our last spot, waves very high, beautifull water. At the moment I’m a shrimp again, was a bit burned by the sun. Tomorrow is a national holiday here. They celebrate the indepence of central america from the spanish (1821). Whole country is decorated with flags, chirlderen are preparing for a parade… really nice. We will spend saturday mostly in the bus, heading for the north.
